The Southern Moravia Region is a flourishing region attractive for tourists and it is considered to be a region of historical monuments and wine. Its rich history is evidenced by many important national monuments such as Lednice-Valtice complex (included in the List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage of UNESCO), castle Veveří or Buchlov and protected historical areas of Mikulov, Znojmo, Strážnicko and many other locations. Moravian Karst is one of the most frequently visited places in the region (the most significant karst area in central Europe) with more than 1,000 caves and Macocha Abyss.
Wine paths leading through the districts of Znojmo, Břeclav, Hodonín and Uherské Hradiště have been prepared for the lovers of quality wine.
Southern Moravia offers to all to fully enjoy their leisure time. Many important European sports events are held in the region from which the best known are Motorcycle Grand Prix, car races, shooting competition, football matches, ice hockey, volleyball and basketball. For those who wish to spend their leisure time in an active manner, the region provides a wide offer of other sports such as golf, cycling, horse riding or aviation.

Brno - the City of Rich History and Cultural Traditions
The long history of Brno going back to 8th century allowed for creation of many significant monuments (castle Špilberk, Old City Hall, churches, cloisters, palace buildings). Villa Tugendhat belongs among a well-known monuments as it has been included in the List of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage UNESCO.Apart from historical sights, the current offer of cultural opportunities includes museums and galleries, a wide variety of cultural institutions such as theatres, cinemas, multiplexes, libraries, music and film clubs organising concerts, festivals, music and sport activities of the European standard. Brno is the residence of the symphony orchestra and Moravian Gallery, Moravian Land Library, Moravian Land Archive and, further, Moravian Land Museum and the House of Arts. It also is a city of greenery and, regarding leisure activities, it offers a botanical garden, arboretum, city parks, zoo, valley Mariánské údolí and the surroundings of Brno Dam. In the sphere of sports the city provides a complex sport infrastructure, especially opportunities for recreational sports. Prepared for those interested are swimming pools, stadiums, golf links, autodrome, horse riding and similar activities. An aviation area in Medlánky and Brno-Tuřany is designated for aviation enthusiasts. Unique events held in Brno (Grand Prix of the Czech Republic, European competitions in shooting, volleyball, swimming) classify the city for inclusion into the European sports calendars. Brno territory offers several cycling tracks that are parts of the Moravian cycling pathways.
Thanks to the transport infrastructure and geographical location of the city, Brno represents a convenient entrance to the area of Southern Moravia, rich in natural beauties and cultural sights.
